As a big mecha fan I really enjoyed the homages to the different super robots of the 70s with their bright colours and funny looking enemy designs. That being said the game itself is quite short but that doesn't stop it from being fun.The game consists of four levels of difficulty and the option of playing the launch mode straight away or practice mode where you can access all six levels and get used to the level before trying it on the launch mode. An interesting feature with this game is that bullets are able to hit your hands and feet without you taking any damage, Vulkaiser's chest is your hitbox and as long as it doesn't hit an enemy blast you won't lose health. You have the option to combine with four different types of support units or face the enemies alone with the base Vulkaiser and its rocket fists. Be careful though, if your support unit is destroyed during a stage it cannot be repaired. My personal favorite is the Lightning unit since it can clear mass swarms of enemies and is great for boss fights. Some things that the game can add to make it better include:-A pause button, something that can really help since you're forced to play the whole six levels in one go.-An options menu, this is a big one since there's no guide to the control keys. Luckily I played the Satazius demo and learned the keys from that but if I went in blind, I'd be absolutely lost in terms of controls.-Additional levels or the choice to choose levels after being defeated. Whilst the game is short it is a bit frustrating to hit the last boss and be forced back to the first level and go through everything again before getting back to the boss.I'm a big mecha fan and if you enjoy side shooters and giant robots then this game is for you. It's short and sweet but something about it makes me want to keep shooting away at hordes of enemy robots and their retro design.. An extremely short (6 stage) but fun filled romp. There's little to no story. I guess you can keep using the same one of four units over and over for each stage JUST to see what they say, but other than that the story is super simple and 70's esque. Its a fun nostalgia fest.As for the gameplay, it was challenging. If you are new to shmups, easy will feel like "hard mode".It involves using 4 unique power ups: drill, thunder, rocket, and needle. Each one with their own strengths, weaknesses, uber moves, and "mini uber", which is activated by letting go of the fire button when the "charge" is filled up. The way the shooting has a charge meter adds a nice rhythm to the shooting, with each unique charge filling up once every 3 seconds or so. Its a nice unique way to add a small gameplay dimension to the shooting instead of the usual "hold down fire and aim the ship".Is this game a masterpiece? Heavens no. Is this game worth the price, ESPECIALLY on sale? Definately.. Funny litle shmup game thats clearly inspired 70s giant robot anime shows.Game itself is realy well simply made .Gameplay mechanic is very tight (darius, thunder foce comes to mind)Very talented developersIts very short game. (like 15 min) but game will whoop your♥♥♥♥♥even on normalsimply fun to play.cons - Pause button ingame doesnt exist .No options/resoultion/graphic settings (thats not that big deal since game uses low res 2d graphics and very simple controls). Even for full price ($5), this game is amazing. It's hands down the best $2.49 I've ever spent on Steam.Classic anime visual style? CheckMech suits? CheckExo weapon modules to connect with? CheckBullet hell? CheckInteresting enemies and bosses? CheckReferences to popular anime? CheckWhat's not to like?On a more serious note, the controls are incredibly responsive. There's a bit of a story, but it's mostly just the characters chatting with you in between levels. This game is just a straightforward shmup that is a ton of fun on the easiest difficulty and a real challenge on the hardest. It's short, but the replayability is there. I can literally think of nothing else that could make this game better. If you're a fan of shmups or even if you just like classic mecha anime, I highly recommend this game.. no game pause working no save game just shoot until the end so dumb so fun.... Simply put, this game is addictive.Whether it is the catchy music, the character interactions, the challenge or the 70s mecha fanboyism, I can't seem to put off this game.Definitely one of my best Steam purchases in spite of its technical shortcomings (no pause button, no resolution, no settings altogether other than "Full screen Y/N").
